Problem with CD/DVD drives

Hi guys. I have a weird issue. This morning, I ran an XP system restore in hopes to retrieve some files. I wasnt able to get what I needed, so I tried to undo the restore, taking my machine back to its current state. When I tried that, after the reboot, it told me that the restoration was incomplete, but didnt tell me why it could do it. I didnt think anything of it and figured it wasnt a big deal.

When I open 'My computer' now, I don't see my D: and E: drives. One is a TDK CDRW 5200B cd burner. The other is a NEC DVD RW ND-2510A DVD burner. I did a reboot, still didnt see them. I checked the BIOS to make sure they are enabled...they are. I checked in device manager. The machine sees both of them and even lists their names, but it has the ywllow exclamation point next to both of them. Both still get power, but my machine doesnt see them.

I tried a different IDE cable...didnt help. I tried to find drivers for both on the internet, but all I found was firmware updates. When I try to run either of them, it won't complete, because it cant see the drives.

I even tried to update the driver automatically, but it couldnt complete for either one. I also tried to uninstall both and do a reboot. Once the machine came up, windows picked up on both and popped up the balloon saying it found the drive, and would list the name. But they arent showing in My Computer.

I don't have cds for either and never did any sort of installation, so I am at a loss.

I'm not sure what happened in my system restore that caused this. HELP!
