Yesterday after installing MS Office I began having trouble with my PC.
My computer was unable to load past the Vista logo startup. After that I just got a black screen. Initially I just tried to return to a restore point and that worked but when I finally logged in and my programs began to run I would get a constant pop up stating that some program or some file was corrupt, even though whatever program that popped up was working fine.

I started hunting around with my antivirus and nothing showed up on my scans. After some time passed while waitng for the computer to finish it's scan the pop ups stopped showing up. I decided to turn off the PC and take a look at things when I got back home. Except when I got back home my computer would again not load. In frustration I decided to run system recovery and just return it to it's original out-of-the-box condition. Then again I had a million and one problems trying to finish that. It would first say that there was no OS on the disk then it started saying that file paths weren't the same across disks or something to that effect. Eventually after all the troubleshooting I did on the HP website I managed to get system recovery to work. When it finally got me through windows set up my screen was all wonky and vista aero wasn't working on my computer. Stating that the graphics card wasn't compatible or something to that effect. Here I decided to update the drivers since the computer came with Vista Home Premium 64-bit installed. I updated the drivers and installed all the windows updates. I then proceeded to reinstall Avast! Antivirus. After it was installed I was prompted to restart my computer. When I went to my computer after it was supposed to restart I was greet with the blank screen again.

Now I can't load windows outside of safe mode. When I go to uninstall some program (the trash programs that come pre installed on my desktop) It says that windows installer was not installed correctly. I ran a virus scan with kaspersky online scanner but nothing popped up. I'm having a hard time trying to get things installed correctly or even uninstalled for that matter. And if I attempt to boot normally my computer again won't load past the Vista logo. :cry

    I have an HP a6720f
    Windows Vista Home Premium 64bit

Appreciate any help I can get!!

    Current Developments:

I figured I'd update as I go along until can help me out.

I started going through the mal-ware removal procedure for my computer and ran CCleaner.
I then went to the next step to show hidden files on Vista, but I can't reach what's required in safe mode and I can't boot from anywhere but safemode.

And now I can no longer access the internet from Safemode with networking. ARGH.
    Throw a gal a bone please D:

Hi, could we step back a little and get some details here please, deni21?

How did you run system recovery? From recovery disc(s) or from a hard drive partition?

Hi Satrow, I actually do not have any Recovery disks from hp D:
So my system recovery was from a hdd partition.

Well I attempted the System Recovery again. And this time it went smoothly. Slowly I've been reinstalling what I need on my computer and all seems to be running well. I think when I recovered last time there might have been a hiccup causing windows not to run properly. Thanks for the help.
