I have this problem, when im playing games. It hardfreezes and afterwards BlueScreenViewer prompts that is dump_ataport.sys fault.

    I ran Memcheck84 (or w/e) for 8 passes, nothing.

Its not overheating problem, because temps stay just below 80c.

    Any suggestions?

    Greetings, coloradooo3.

What operating system version and Service Pack # are you running?

That ataport.sys carries a lot of weight - there are many possible causes.

Since you think you've ruled out RAM and temperature, you might try temporarily disabling any antispyware/virus programs that are running, see if your symptoms change (while offline, of course).

Got your Windows disk handy? If so, maybe run a System File Check in case the ataport or atapi files are corrupt.

Im not using any antispyware/malware, its a default windows protector.

How to run system file check? Is it an option easily accessible or through console?

"Windows resource protection did not find any integrity violations."

    I assume thats good.

    Any further suggestions?

Uninstalled Deamon Tools, as i heared it might cause stuff like that. Still got a problem.

    EDIT:

A quick way to check if the problem persists is to run MSI Afterburner, Kombustor mode. My pc lasts 4-15 seconds before HardFreezing.

    EDIT:
When i get hardfrozen, i only sometimes receive a dump file (or mini), and WhoCrashed also points at ntoskrnl.exe, which is connected and comes at 2nd place after dump_ataport.sys on BlueScreenViewer, but is not marked in red.

Last 2 Dumps ran with WhoCrashed

Again: you're pointing at a core Windows component, so the causes could be coming from just about anywhere.

Try booting into Safe Mode and stressing the machine as much as possible - if it crashes while in Safe Mode, that might indicate that something in Windows itself is broken.

If not, you might try reloading any drivers (chipset and video, especially). Even though your RAM passed Memtest, you might still consider reseating and/or swapping modules.

And, because of that original ataport.sys symptom, I suggest running a chkdsk, even downloading and running any OEM diagnostics tools for your specific brand of hard drive.

Did the symptoms appear suddenly? If so, maybe some Windows Update was the trigger. Check your update history for any correlations - if anything's suspect, try rolling back to a previous Restore Point.

And, is it just gaming that causes the crash? If so, suspect whatever graphics you're running.

NTIOLib_X64.sys = MSI Afterburner driver (known issues with Windows 7)

Well, problem seems solved. Ran MSI Kombustor for 3.5min straight (even though couldn't last 15sec before) and no crash, gamed 4 hours and still no crash.

What i did was, completely remove and then re-attach my V-card, because it might not have been properly installed, or has shifted, as time passed, and switched my RAM, onto unused rails (2 were used for 2years, and 2 never).

    Thank you all for suggestions.
