Im using Windows Movie Maker to edit a movie I made for class, except I'm using a friend's DV camera. I used a plug that connects my computer (Vaio Win XP Home) to the camera via USB 1.1 . THe problem is, the computer does not recognize the camera, and i am unable to import the video. Any suggestions? The camera is a JVC GR-DVL520 mini DV.

Are you able to use any other USB hardware on your PC?
    Is USB enabled?
Is any software needed to use, I only ask cause my wife has digital cammera (photos) she downloads to her pc which requires software to be installed first.

if you want to get video into your computer, you must use firewire. usb is only for stills and possibly some video that's been recorded into the SD card.

Thx for the help guys. Apparantly, the usb only transfers pics, so i had to borrow firewire from school.
