Problem With Encyption Level On Email Client

My mother used to say:"It's always something, if not one thing then another" years before Roseanne Roseannadanna TV character made the phrase famous.

Well I just received a "something" from one of my email providers. They said - Deactivation of TLS 1.0, TLS 1.1 and unencrypted access as of October 5. Further,no emails will be transmitted to or from your mail.com email account using TLS 1.0 and TLS 1.1.and it will only be possible to connect if TLS 1.2 or TLS 1.3 encryption is in place.
So, The following devices or programs may be affected: Third-party email programs such as Outlook, Thunderbird.

I've been using Thunderbird and Fossa mail for years.

Can a Major Geek advise me as to what I should do, either so I can continue to use Thunderbird and/or Fossa mail or recommend a substitute for Thunderbird and Fossa mail that will meet the new level of TLS encryption?

Check Thunderbird's settings and enable TLS 1.2 and/or TLS 1.3.

FossaMail was discontinued 5 years ago.

I tried to do that before I posted my problem. The only "choice" shown were just SSL/TLS, which i had selected years ago. No indication how to enable either TLS 1.2 or TLS 1.3

Follow the instructions under WAY 1.

DON'T try WAY 2 unless you are comfortable with editing the Registry.

 

Thanks for the info. Just to clarify. I followed those instructions and TLS 1.1 and 1.2 are checked.
Does that mean that when I select TLS in the Thunderbird "settings" that it will use what is checked in this Windows setting?
