WinXP Home SP2, 3.0ghz Pentium D, 1gb DDR2.... When I click the 'Launch Google Earth' icon, it starts up OK, shows the 'tip-o-the-day' and then the globe... so far so good. Then I type in a city and state and hit enter, and it starts to zoom in OK, then it stops zooming in, and all hell breaks loose! Everything in the map window starts flashing really fast, and as I use the scroll wheel on the mouse to zoom in, it continues flickering... If I move the mouse pointer out of the map and up to the blue bar at the top, the flickering stops and the map is totally visible. If I move the pointer around in the map window, it flickers until I stop movement, and sometimes the map is visible, but most of the time it isn't. I did a bit of research, and other people have had the same problem, but no-one had a fix. The video drivers are up to date, it's running DX9.0c (which I tested with dxdiag; it's OK). And this is newly formatted HD with a clean install of XP Home SP2 performed less than 10 days ago. I've had GE run fine on much lesser PC's than this one. So, what's up??? Any ideas? Has anyone seen this or heard of this happening before? If so, what's the fix?!?! Thanx for any help!

Google Earth released an update a few days ago. Don't know if it is relevant but you may check your version.

OK- I uninstalled GE, downloaded it again, and reinstalled it. And still the flickering, or if it doesn't flicker, it doesn't display the maps at all. I loaded it on a 2nd PC, and it works perfectly.... Does anybody have any ideas???

What happens if you use the OpenGL graphics mode in GE settings (or safe mode)?
