I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this so I apologize if I'm posting this in the wrong section. Although this problem is related to headphones the problem isn't with the headphones themselves. The computer just isn't recognizing the headphones. They have been working perfectly in the past on this laptop for years but yesterday the headphones stopped working. I unplugged them and plugged in two other pairs of headphones and none of them worked. I thought maybe the problem is with the sound, so I unplugged the headphones and tried the speakers without the headphones, it worked. I've checked device manager but it shows no problems. I've checked Sound under control panel and the headphones aren't recognized. I decided to do a System Restore, only to discover that the computer hasn't been creating Restore points so I can't restore the system to a earlier point. If anyone can give me some help here it would be greatly appreciated.
