Problem with IE - Might be spyware related

My brother was stupid, and he loaded this program called bonzai on his computer. I immediately deleted it, and ran both spybot and ad-aware. However, there is a lingering problem. I have zonealarm installed, and whenever my computer first boots, the first time I open IE I get an access request by iexplorer.exe (which is very wierd since IE is allowed under my settings) to access a port 127.0.0.1 and a few more numbers. I knew this to be trouble, and I denied it. I opened IE again, and it works fine, no more requests. I've ran McAffe anti-virus along with spybot and ad-ware (all three updated) and still no luck.

Any suggestions? Please none that tell me to switch to Opera or other IE alternatives.

 

Bonzai Buddy is definetely spyware related... not sure if it comes packaged with any other stuff... I would google search the name to learn more info about it...

 

Bonzi Buddy is spyware, and AdAware and Spybot should have killed it. You should post a Hijack This log in the spyware forum, it might be something else entirely.

 

It sounds like bonzai messed with your hosts file. Depending on your OS do this:

Win XP: Start > Run > notepad C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC\hosts
Win 2K: Start > Run > notepad C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC\hosts
Win 98\ME: Start > Run > notepad C:\WINDOWS\hosts

then copy and paste the contents here.
