Laugh if you will, but I have an eMachine PC. I am trying to expand the memory again, but having some issues.

First- This is my mother board. K8M-800M

This page states that my memory is fully expandable up to 2GB.

It came from the factory with 256 DDR, I upgraded that same day to 512 DDR

now, the 512 DDR that I installed is 2100

Tech support guy says I need to run PCM3200... and nothing less will work. My PCM2100 works just fine...

But when I add a second memory chip....

My system wont even boot. When I install ONLY the memory Chip that I just got.... It works FINE.

Im wondering if anyone has any literature on this motherboard or knows where I can find some.

Im wondering if theres a Jumper or something I dont know about, Im just frustrated and confused by this. My IT guy cant even help me out!

Any input is appreciated. (Besides not buying an eMachine)

    Thanks

14 page views and no one has any advice for me????

I thought we had some geeks around here?

Patience, grasshopper, patience. We have lots of geeks around here, and since they are all smart (by virtue of being geeks) they know better than to answer if they don't know with absolute certainty that their answer is correct and will help you.

Oh, and since everyone here is volunteering their time, being snide and sarcastic means someone else is more likely to get some of my free time, and the benefit of what I know. Something to keep in mind of you decide to ask for help here again :)

Lecturing aside, tell us a bit more about your memory. Your motherboard obviously works on P2100-- you computer works with the 256MBand the 512MB, so lets disregards the whole "must have PC3200" thing.

What is your new memory chip? Is it a Pc3200 or a PC2700? What error messages, if any, do you get when you try to boot with all three installed? Are there any visible differences between the original two memory modules and the new one?

The more information you give us, the more we have to work with, and the more likely you are to get those answers you wanted.

I see that your motherboard is used in 10 models. Exactly what model is your eMachines computer? That would help in using the memory selector on www.crucial.com.

crucial.com does not list all those model, but does not list about six. I looked and crucial.com says PC3200 for most models but listed both PC3200 and PC2700 for one.
