So I go to use my Microsoft Word program, and I get this message:

An error has occurred and this feature is no longer functioning properly. Would you like to repair this feature now?

So I click "yes" and get this:

Microsoft Word cannot install the necessary files due to Windows Installer error 1601. The Windows Installer service could not be accessed. Contact your support personnel to verify that the Windows Installer service is properly registered.

I click "OK" and get this:

Microsoft Word has not been installed for the current user. Please run setup to install the application.

Then it closes out Word. So I download Windows Installer and get this:

I try to do Windows Installer--it starts to "Prepare to Install", then this message comes up:

Could not write value to key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes\.mis. Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or conatact your support personnel.

I click "ignore" and it goes to a box that says

An event was unable to invoke any of the subscribers

I click "OK", and then it says

    Internal Error 2744.RegServer,

    C:\WINNT\system32\msiexec.exe,/regserverCA

I click "OK" again, and it says

    Windows Installer Setup failed.

What's wrong?? Can anyone help?? Thanks in advance!!

Are you logged on as admin?

Also I came across a weird issue with office, in which you need to unhide hidden folders and files ( Tools > Folder Options > View and check "Show Hidden files and Folders" > Apply then try office again as it couldnt access the hidden installer files.

and as this is the exact error your having then this maybe of help http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;325080

Halo--thanks for the advice--but I can't even get to "Tools"! As soon as I open Word or any other application, those messages start coming up and I can't get to the toolbar or anything.

Also, I tried to delete my Admin profile like the link said, and it told me I couldn't--something about not being able to delete "built-in" accounts. Any other ideas?? Thanks again!

The "Tools" option Halo is refering to is not in Word its in Explorer.

    Click: Start > My Computer

On the toolbar at the top Click Tools > Folder options > View

look down the list for "Hidden files and folders" and check the box beside:

Show hidden files and folders. Click Apply.

BirdBath--thanks for clearing that up. When I went to do that, however, it was already clicked as "Show all folders".

I did a Google search for the phrase "An event was unable to invoke any of the subscribers", and came across a site that took me through a procedure that seems to have worked. I'd post the link here, but I can't find the site anymore??? Thanks!:)
