Problem with monitor!

Hello!
i just bought this LCD Hanns-g HW191D 19" monitor and the first day seemed fine...then after when i turn on computer and monitor to start up, when it reaches the XP loading screen the monitor goes black...

i could still see pictures but barely when close-up. i tried turning monitor off and back on and it turns back to normal for about 1 second and it goes black again...

i had to power off/on the hard drive about 4-5 times before i got it working. and its kept doing this since...


so could this monitor be defected? or something not quite right about it? the settings are at difficult (1440x900, and 60khz, plug & play, its website says no need for drivers too)

i could still return and get another one of this monitor before 3 weeks but i dont know if the next one would have the same problem... any idea whats wrong?

From your discription I would certainly be suspicious of the new monitor.

Can you not test with the old monitor?
Are you sure the leads are firmly plugged home?
Are you using the old lead or a new lead that came with the monitor?
Can you try another lead?

 

i tested with the old monitor, even though the backlight is broken i could see that it passes the winxp loading screen part normally, unlike the new monitor.

the wires are all new from the same box and plugged in correctly.
