I am having a problem with being able to login to msn messenger. The status report says everthing is fine. I use Trend Micro's pc-cillin for anti virus. I use Ghostsurf to connect to the internet Firefox or Maxthon through a proxy server. I use Spyware Doctor, Webroot Spyware sweeper and Privacy Guardian.

Try disabling any firewall you have. In fact, try disabling all the applications that "keep you safe" from the internet.

    Can you access the internet?

If so, you may want to narrow down what is blocking the access.

    Do you have a router?

Click Start, Run, type in MSCONFIG (press enter).

Now, go to Startup Items. Uncheck everything. Press Ok. Reboot (upon clicking yes for the reboot). Do you have access. If so, then something that is started up is blocking you. If not, then either router or some other hardware firewall is blocking you.

One other item: Are you using this computer a school? At a university? Dorm room?
