Hi. I just installed my copy of nero (5.5, I think) on my roommate's computer, and it won't burn (audio) cd's. I'm doing everything I normally do on my computer (on which it works fine), and I have updated it on the nero website. It will go through the whole burn process like normal, but then when I take the cd out afterwards, it shows no signs of being burned and it is not recognized by the computer or any cd player. It just acts as if there is no cd in the drive at all. I'm sure there is probably already a thread on here addressing this problem, but I didn't have the time or patience to sift through 15 pages of different threads with the word "nero" in them. Thanks to anyone who can offer advice!

It sounds like it is recording to the hard-drive and not the cd burner.
Check to make sure the recorder is not showing "image recorder".
It has to show your cd burner in order for it to work.

It shows the cd burner on the list of available recorders, but it won't let me use it. It says something like "This nero version can only be used with the recorder it has been bundled with," which is the image recorder. Does that mean I (well, my roommate, actually) would have to buy a new version of nero?

That phrase sounds like the version of Nero that you have was made specifically for the writer that you have, not your friends.

That's really weird. I have versions 5.5 both the full version and the nero express version, and I have used both on both of my computers with no problem.
It almost sounds like what you would get trying to use the demo version.
Maybe somthing got fouled up when you were downloading the update.
It may not work, but try uninstalling Nero-delete the nero folder from the program files - reboot, then reinstall and do not update from Nero's site, and see what happens.

It sounds like an OEM package distributed with a particular drive. It will only work with the drive it was bundled with.

I guess it's just his cd burner, because nero showed his recorder as being completely different from mine. so, I guess that's all I needed. thanks a lot to everyone for their help!
