Just picked up a MSI NX6600 GT AGP card. Had to put it in the slot and attach it to the power supply. After playing Madden 2005 for a while I started getting a message that the card wasn't receiving enough power. I'm like huh? I've got a 430W Antec Power Supply. This is my other equipment.

Operating System: Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 2 (2600.xpsp_sp2_rtm.040803-2158)
    Intel D850MV
    System Model: MV85010A
    Processor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.40GHz
    Memory: 512MB RAM
    DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904)
    Description: Gamesurround Fortissimo III 7.1
    CD Drive
    HP CD RW
    Floppy
120 GIG WD 7200 RPM Hard drive
    2 case fans

Does anyone have any idea why a great 430W PS won't run this card? I'm at a loss. Have we reach the point where this is not enough power? I had to remove the card because it gave me about 500 of those error messages about not getting enough power. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. :)

Since no one had an answer to this one I'll post what I eventually found out. I just had to switch to a different plug. For whatever reason the one I had selected wasn't supplying enough juice. Just thought you might like to know because there are others who've had this problem.

Well I was using a plug that was connected to a plug that was connected to a plug. One of those deals. I took one a little lest connected and it's worked so far.

I believe that, especially the high-speed blower type fans that are installed in the PCI slots suck lots of juice what is worse is generally fans suck currency in an irregular way. I never ever share the 12V power connectors that are plugged in to HD, Video Card (if applicable) and CD-Burner drives with any of the case fans. Especially the Video Cards that require a separate 12V connector should be left on their own...the way things are going pretty soon high-end system will need 2 powerful PSU.

Erm, what would be the point of 2 PSUs when you can just have one?

More than one PSU is the same as doubling the power. So why not double the power and be done with it.

i think manufacturers need to start putting a cap on how much power their products consume ... while I don't pay the electric bill in my house, I could imagine a 1000watt PSU would be very expensive regardless of how much you bought it for
