i recently installed norton system works 2006 and now limewire starts by itself. i have gone in and checked the settings and it is not checked anywhere in limewire to start program automatically yet it continues to restart time and time again. i uninstalled it and reinstalled and it didnt fix it. any help would be appreciated

    I assume this is XP?

Have you made sure that it (lime) is not started within msconfig?

Click START, then RUN, then type in MSCONFIG (press enter)

Click the startup tab, and make sure that limewire is not part of the startup. When you are done, press OK.

Then OK to reboot. Does Lime startup again?

wasnt on the list. and yes it is xp, with all recent updates. still starts up. not only does it boot when windows starts up, it also reloads about 20 seconds(or less) after i close limewire out.

Are you sure you haven't JUST installed Windows Service Pack 2, when this problem started?? I had the same problem on 2 different machines, after installing SP2. One machine has Norton Internet Security 2002, and the other NIS 2004. Neither had a problem before I installed SP2. Limewire JUST KEPT opening. Couldn't find any patch for it, so I uninstalled SP2. Back to normal now.

i know it wasnt just installed because it was already on my laptop when i bought it..... but since i just started my computer, i can say it is fixed.... im guessing that it was this worm i had prior to install...... took a few minutes to remove it from the system but it i resolved, so thanks anyway
