    Hi,

I'm trying to connect a Toshiba Satellite 3000-514 laptop to a Toshiba 32WL48P LCD TV. The two connect okay, via a mini D-sub 15p connector plus audio lead.

The laptop is about 3 years old now, and has a Nvidia GeForce2Go card. When I connect the lead to the laptop, only the desktop wallpaper is displayed on the TV screen, minus icons, despite enabling Windows to be displayed on all monitors. The option to use a TV as an output device is greyed out in the device settings.

The laptop is running XP HE SP2, using XP's own firewall.

Does anybody have any ideas, please? There's nothing helpful on Nvidia's site, not even a compatible driver update. Maybe the card is too old for today's technology, but the options appear to be there to use it with a TV.

Thanks. Hope this is clear :)

The card is not too old for today. What it sounds like is the LCD is showing the second part of the desktop in CRT mode, which allows it to show an expanded part of your desktop (more landspace). You can keep it that way or drag the 2nd screen over the first in the properties for the card.

If wishing to watch video as a TV, you have to use a S-Video plug, otherwise with the 15pin cable it will act like a monitor.
