Problem with Picasa 2

I have just bought a new computer in which Picasa 2 is installed. I went in, signed the agreement and then the Picasa site appeared with the banner across the screen. This banner will not move, and seems to freeze the computer. I can't even shut it down the normal way. Just have to turn it off manually.
Any ideas how I can correct this?

 

Do a system restore or if you can't boot normally, reboot pressing F8 continuosly whan advanced user mode opens scoll down to " Last Known Good Configuration " and click enter, this will reboot your PC back to the last time it was running in a good state !

P.S next time you post it would be a good idea to say what your OS is and what if any FW's and AV's you have !

 

That sentence seems to imply that Picassa was installed on it when he got it. If that's correct, then there's probably no restore point going back before Picassa, anyway.

I'd try DomLuc's suggestion re: screen saver. If that doesn't fix the problem, then why not uninstall Picassa and, if you want it, download it from the Internet and reinstall it?

Also, since your computer is new, it probably has some, or a lot, of software, shortcuts on the desktop, etc., that you don't need or want. Some cleanup of that stuff is worth spending some time on; might be something there that's having some negative impact on your computer's performance or behavior.
