Problem with Rome Total War

I was trying to play Rome Total War but when I ran it it just crashed. I ran task manager and found that ~e5.0001 ran and closed when I ran RTW. I googled ~e5.0001 and did every suggestion that I could find on the web but nothing works. Plus no one else seems to having the same problem with it as me. If someone could give me some advice or insight or something that would be great.

Rome: Total War Kicks ass. However please when you post give enough information. What OS? What COMP specs? What version of RTW? Are your divers up to date? We cannot help unless you give us enough info.

Processor: Pentium 4 1.60 Ghz
RAM: 896MB
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce3 Ti 200(64.0 RAM, 1280*1024 (32bit)(75Hz))
Drivers: Up to date

My page file is 193MB used, 1977MB available. Also, I have played it on this computer before, this is a recent development and also happens with Halo Combat Evolved but not with Warcraft 3.

 

Also I'm playing the original version fully patched (patch v. 1.5). Through Google I found that ~e5.0001 is a copy protection software and might close the game if it is forced to stop running. I allowed it on all my fire walls and I disabled all my firewalls.

My comuter is also infected with Spyfalcon and another fake anti-maleware program. Could they be closing ~e5.0001?

I think that it is malware although I'm not an expert. Follow the above link and hopefully the malware guys can help you. Although they are very very busy. Hopefully after you clean your system the problem will disappear. If not post again. I'll look it up in more detail and post if I find something specific.
