    Hi everyone,
I went to France for 6 weeks and left my computer at home, but now that I've returned, the save as feature is messed up. It used to let me view my folders and where I wanted to save them, but now it looks like the attached screen shot. Can anyone please help me get my "Save As" feature working properly again? I should probably add that while I was away, my dad used my computer and he has a tendency to break computers. The "Save As" feature doesn't work properly for any programs I try to save a file as, such as Adobe PDF and Microsoft Word.

Thank you for all your help.

Yes, I have a Windows 7 operating system. Unfortunately, the troubleshooting guide that you attached a link for didn't help. Do you or anyone else have any other suggestions?

Sounds like something is corrupt.. Do this....

1.) First you will need to start a permission-elevated command-line prompt. Type command into the Desktop Search box and then right-click on the Command Prompt menu entry and select the Run as Administrator

2.) type this command: sfc /scannow and hit enter. The system will verify the system files and repair any corrupted files..

Reboot PC and try to save a document..

Thanks for your suggestion about the command-line prompt. I tried it and unfortunately, nothing was found. Any other ideas? Thanks!

You have not explained in detail what is "not working". Also the screenshot you posted shows no errors . So I have no idea what problem you have until you mention errors, popup boxes, inability to type a name in where the Doc1 is highlighted, etc.
What version of Office on the Windows 7 computer? I trust it was not a trial version that came pre-installed on the computer. Those stop working if you do not purchase a key.

I have Microsoft Office 2010 on my computer. The problem is, I used to be able to see the file and other documents when I went to save a document, but now, I can't see it. When I used to go to save, my save as screen resembled something more like the open file screen, which I've attached. Any suggestions? And yes, it isn't a trial version.

1.) Can you do a screen shoot of what it looks like Now (simply save a doc and do screen shoot and post it)..

2.) After you prepare a document and "save as" are you then able to close, go back and reopen the saved file from "file open" ??

Hi all, thanks for all your help. I've decided to restore my laptop to factory settings. It's working properly now.
