problem with sound

    i have got a asus a7n8x-x mobo and it has onboard sound but cannot make it work on 5.1 surrond sound mine is only working on 2 speakers and the bass speaker i have installed the lastest sound drivers and it is enabled in the onboard sound and is configured in windows xp pro any people have any ideas how to make them work on all five speakers:confused:

    just a question if you have the manual for that board is there maybe a jumper somewhere to enable 5.1 support

    Control Panel Sounds and Multimedia

    Maybe you have done this already, but its worth a look if you haven't. Control Panel > Sounds and Multimedia > double click to open properties, choose hardware tab, click on advanced button in the sound playback area. Another box comes up, advanced audio properties, you can choose your speaker setup under speakers in the advanced audio properties box that comes up. This is W2K, but might be same in XP.

    I agree on checking jumpers
    I belive there are several jumpers on that board they are grouped together are also related to using for port's on front of cases.

    If that's not the problem
    Make sure you have correctly connected your speaker wires
    Or
    remove drivers and reinstall

    hi ive looked at my manual the jumpers seems to b in correct postion ive changed the front panel audio connectors and now have no sound so i have to rechange it back what jumper switch do i need to change is it internal audio connector or is it digital audio connector one:confused:
