Problem with speaker using Pro Tools

I have a Pro Tools system connected to my PC and sound isn't coming out. I use to have it connected to my Mac and everything worked fine. Does anybody know why sounds isn't coming out from my speakers? The speakers only work when I'm using Pro Tools but when I try running Windows Media player nothing happens. I also tried it in iTunes and I could hear sound coming out but it sounds all chopped up. If anybody knows whats going on, I'd appreciate your help greatly. Thanks in advance.

 

what computer and os are you using now? you said that used to have it connected to your mac are you running it on windows? have you updated the drivers for your sound card? have you got 2 sound cards? (an internal sound card and an external one (like an Mbox) if so you need to uninstall one - open device manager and see what hardware you have installed-

I'm running Windows Vista Home Premium. I think I'm going to downgrade or install XP on my Mac because I have several plug ins that don't work on Vista but work perfectly on XP. I have a MBox interface. USB. I tried looking for it but I didn't find it. I update everything once every 2 weeks just to play it safe. My Motherboard has a integrated soundcard but like I said, I think I might as well switch it back to Windows XP. Thanks for your advice. I'll keep it in mind.

 

My fiance is running Windows XP and has the same problem. He can get headphones to work for non-pro tools audio, but not his speaker set-up. So, unforutnatly, I don't think switching back to Windows XP would solve the problem. There is a lot of missing plug-in support for Vista though, so it will probably solve those issues.

 

He might have to re-install the drivers for the MBox cuz I installed it on Windows XP and it works, amazing!

 

I'll check with him. He has the 003 Rack so I think it has something to do with the computer seeing that as a sound card. Thanks for the tip!
