problem with the UAA drivers

When I tried to install my audio drivers it said I must first install the UAA drivers (to be found at microsoft.com) and then install the drivers. None the less... I installed the UAA drivers and then tried to install the audio drivers only to receive the exact same error.

I then went to CNET and downloaded the UAA drivers... only to fail again. And before I reformatted my computer, the audio had an echo to it (not sure if its related)... It was EVERYTHING audio echo'ed. Games, Software, Windows Sounds, Music, Movies, Everything.

Any ideas?

 

What soundcard do you have and where are you getting the drivers from?

 

I have onboard sound in a Compaq Presario SR1220WM desktop pc tower. I went to device manager to get you a more specific answer but all I'm getting (without the drivers) is "Audio Device on High Definition Audio Bus".

I got the UAA drivers from Microsoft.com & CNET.com. As far as the regular audio drivers, I got them from the Compaq/HP website under drivers and support. The only audio drivers they had listed for this desktop.


Oh and for the question about the firmware... I got it (as well as every other driver) from the compaq/HP website. Also the only firmware update they were offering.

 

Without knowing the specific hardware it is dificult to say for sure but I expect that if it is onboard sound it is probably a realtec AC97.

Give these a go and see if you have any more luck.
