So I've decided to readdress I problem that I had a while ago.

I found the Acer recovery CDs so here is the current situation

There seems to be a problem with Windows (well really two problems), or maybe the drivers that are loading with it.

The touchpad and the keyboard stopped working with windows. However I don't think that it is a hardware problem because everything works perfectly when I started in safe mode, or if I used a Live CD like Hiren's or a Linux live CD.

I even tried to delete the hard drive with Dariks Boot and Nuke and completely start over with the recovery CD's. The keyboard and mouse work perfectly during the installation, but stop working when Windows starts.

The second problem is that since I've run the recovery CD's, windows has not been booting automatically. It goes to a black screen with a blinking cursor. I am able to get into windows using Hiren's Boot CD and I imagine that I will be able to use fixmbr and fixboot when the first problem is fixed.

    Acer Aspire 5000
Windows XP (recovery CD's install SP2, I believe)

So in normal mode you have no keyboard or mouse?
Do you have a USB keyboard you could try so that you would have functionality in normal mode?
