Ok so I ended up having to format my drive because of a virus and everything worked fine for a while but now I NEED to have my XP installation CD in one of my drive to run most windows programs. I checked everything with Norton and it was fine. This isn't THAT big of a problem since I have 2 drives. Anyways am I missing some files that the CD can just fill up or what?

Do you actualy need it to run the programs or is XP just using it to install missing components? Give an example of one of the programs that ask for the disk.

I just got the message. While it no longer happens with WMP it just comes up out of nowhere sometimes. It say something along the lines of.... "Windows is missing certain components to keep it stable. Please insrt your Windows XP Home Edition Cd." With another sentence in between. This happens even though it's in and I just click on cancel and it works fine. I don't wanna leave it w/o the cd for fear the next time it comes up something may happen. And no I haven't tried System restore.

I would do system restore ...first that fixes alot of problems.

Then rebuild the registry if that didn't work.
