    Hi y'all, I'm using Win XP Pro and something happened with the task manager,
    when i ctrl+alt+del, the task manager shows up, but without the menu, you know the "file, tools", etc. above everything else.

    I try to right click over different parts of the window to see if a menu shows up but nothing happens, to close it i have to go to the task bar, right click and close it.

    It was working fine a few days ago, i don't know what happened, any ideas???

    Thanks.

    lol...I think you double-clicked on the gray bar where the 'Applications/Processes/Performance/Networking' tabs reside on.
    You should see a gray bar at the very top of the Task Manager window (possibly the only bar bordering the program window) to revert back to normal look just double-click on the grey bar again.
    ;)

    God, it was that simple??¡¡¡
    thanks turcoloco, and by the way, do you know how i can uninstall and install again Outlook Express, i was trying to create a new identity and when it asked me if i wanted to switch to the new identity i clicked yes but it never opened again. I then restarted the computer, and now when i try to open outlook express, it stays frozen.
    I have to close it with the task manager. I figure the best way to resolve this is installing it again, maybe you have another solution, thanks again.

    Not sure....you are using XP, right? I am guessing the program had some corruption during profile/identity creation process...if it jack up the registry in the process it is bad news. I don't think you could properly and fully uninstall OE, you can check the Add-Remove Program but the most you would see is the OE updates if I am not mistaken.
    Here is what I would suggest: (I am not at home right now and do not have OE on this workstation but I believe) C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Indentities\OutlookExpress\ or C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\OutlookExpress\ should have all the profiles listed, if you see more than one indeed, check the folder properties to find out which one is newer, delete that one and try opening OE.
    Let me know if you can't find anything at the above mentioned locations.

    i can't find the folders in the order you described, what i have is:
    c:/Documents and Settings/username/... but i can't find neither Application Data nor Local Settings, and the only folder that is similar to the one you described is User Data, and this folder doesn't have Microsoft or OE in it. I'm gonna try and find it elsewhere, but i'd appreciate it if you help me a bit.
    Thanks.

    I will give you more info when I get home, also few other things to try. Oh to be able to see 'Local Settings' folder you have to enable 'Show hidden files and folders' option in:
    Start > Control Panel > Folder Options > View (tab)

    Hi Ron, I was right you would have to go to:
    START > Control Panel > Folder Options and on the 'View' tab choose the option that reads "Show hidden Files and Folders", then OK. This way you will be able to see the 'Application Data' Folder under C:\Documents and Settings\username\.

    Anyhow, these are the locations where Outlook Express stores the new identity data on XP:
    C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Identities\{some alpha numeric value}

    C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\{some alpha numeric value}\Microsoft\Outlook Express\

    Delete the folder with the [alpha numeric value} and the Identity would be gone.

    You will see more than 1 folder with alpha numeric value and quite possibly will not be able to tell which one is which but here is a tip you may find useful as to which one to delete:
    You could right-click on the folders to find their "Date created" which would give you the clue but just to make it even easier for you, the last identity that was created will be listed above (first on the list).

    (example) You see these 2 identities:
    >C:\Documents and Settings
    >USERNAME
    >Local Settings
    >Application Data
    >Identities
    {AAB26B42-6C11-48DC-BC03-4D9AB84398A6}
    and
    {6AB76D42-FC45-BNDC-87A2-K56AB8L198V3}
    The one on the top is the one you need to delete...hope this helps.
    ;)

    Turcoloco, you the man!!

    I did exactly what you told me and Outlook E is working fine, the weird thing is that the identity i erased, it's still there in Outlook, working fine, that's the important thing, anyway thanks man. Happy Holidays.
