    Hi

When you run these apps what % is mentioned to be left defragged? if under 5% and using NTFS I wouldnt bother trying to defrag all as every file will not defrag as some that are in use by the system are locked.

What Windows version and file system are you using?

Could try a reboot and defrag straight away before using any apps.
    Use Pagedefrag for registry.

The retail defraggers like Diskeeper and O&O have bootime defrag routines, which tend to be able to get to all files as at boot the system has not locked they yet as in use.

    Hi

File System is either FAT32 or NTFS, open your C drive folder and right click > properties and next to File System it will tell you.

What is a ps? and which defragger is saying this?

O&O and Diskeeper have trials you could use to see if the 12GB can be defragged, but would need to know what types of files those are to say why they will not defrag, likely is system locked as they have or are in use, did you reboot and re-defrag?

Try defraging in safe mode (F8 at boot and choose Safe Mode with Networking)

    Hi

Without knowing all the files you would need to stop manually that could be holding onto specific files, then you'll have to wait until a time when the PC is rebooted and then run defrag first before opening and running apps.

Is defrag app the built in Windows one or 3rd party one? if so do name it.

Could try Auslogics Defrag app, but it too may hit locked files, until reboot.
