    Hi.

I am having trouble booting this system.
I have stripped the MB down to the bare essentials.
    1 Ram, Power Supply, Processor.
    The rest is striped off.

    The following occurs.
I disconnect the 4pin 12V from the power supply.
Put the power on, and start the system.

Cpu fan spins off like it should and everything seems ok.

Powers off. Wait until the led light goes off.
Connect the 4 pin 12V, and powers up again.

Starts the system. Both the cpu Fan and the power fan kicks in and tries/begins to spin for a fraction of a second until everything stops.

Any idea what this might be?

    Kind regards
    Tore

I cant seem to find the specs on that Mobo . If it happens to be dual channel memory, you need two ram sticks. I don't even know what would happen if you booted a dual channel system with only 1 stick, so I'm probably off target, but I thought I'd give it a shot since nobody else has yet. Somebody more knowledgeable than I will be here soon .

1 stick might work but Crucial says this in red
So it probably isn't RAM causing the problem.

Yes, the RAM is probably a red herring - unless there's a specific slot that the RAM needs to be in to power onboard graphics; this used to be a common scenario around ten years ago, I've not heard of it in recent motherboards.

I would first check the CPU is seated correctly (remove it and reseat/lock down) and the heatsink is making good contact.

    Hi.

Thanks for all the replies, very much appreciated.
    I have tried the following:
Set in the second Memory. Powering up. o reaction. (Fans try, but halts)

    Disassembled the whole rig.
Picked up the cpu. Tightend everything.
But all the same. Fans try, but quickly halts in a fraction of a second.

When i take away the 4pin 12V the fans spins up.

But when the 12V is reconnected and i try to start up again. The fans just ry, but stops as before.

I am starting to believe that there have to be either a fuse blown, or something is shorted on the Motherboard.

    Kind regards

    Hi again.

since last time, i have go ahold of a power supply and tested the MB with this one. Same fault, fans kick in for a millisecond and stops. So there seems to be the MB that is faulted. Hopefully i will get to send the MB back and get a new one in return.

Wait and see what one of the resident pros think you should try next. There still may be a solution that does not involve a return .

Worth checking the memok --a-ok button on the memory- in case it needs resetting.
If the motherboard is made to take the extra 4 plug power lead, then I would think that it needs to be connected- does the setup sheet not explain that, as I always found they did.
    Have you checked
The stand-offs are clear of the case- often a fault with new builds.
The heatsink thermal compound paste is applied o.k-
    Another stick of memory
The memory is the correct rating-- DDR3 memory that features data transfer rates of 2200(O.C.) / 1600 /1333 / 1066 MHz
