So Im trying to install win 8.1

Ive purchased it, yeah I know figured me pirated days ought to be over... Formatted me drive, which now runs win7. The problem is as followes

During the installation process which occurs after the first reboot, where it says "setting up" it stops up on 67% and reboots and says "restoring to previous installed version of windows" and I get the bloody error message
    0x8007025D - 0x2000C

Running an unregistered version of win 7... The cause?
Tried installing during a clean boot, didnt help.
Contacted microsoft via phone... which resulted in that me windows updates that fail constanly might be the issue... SO I tried manually downloading the ones that still aint updated... still 3 buggers which refuses, tried the mrfixit and the other tool they recommed.

Then I tried the microsoft chat... A indian bloke was trying to help, little good he did... Said I had to install 8 then 8.1... and was pretty adamant about it... even though the tuturial from microsoft said nothing of this when ran that compadibily check...

So some thoughts? Ive come the this site before when Ive had trouble and advice has always been sound...
thanks if you got something :)

Some specs on your computer would really help?
Like the brand name, amount of ram, what type of cpu.

Can you take that HDD out and format it on another computer? If yes, do it, then put it back in.
Now you can install Win. 8.1 because your HDD is blank.

    Hi

What Windows 8 media did you get is it a physical dvd or is it the digital download, if the digital download is it a smallish installer or the 2-3GB ISO?
Is the Win8.1 you purchased the upgrade or full retail?

If you are trying an in-place upgrade and if your version of Windows 7 is hookey then that can cause an upgrade issue. In which b1jqxk44's advise on a clean install is best route (I would clone/image your old win7 install first Macrium Reflect is free) for a smooth install, but when you run the Win8 upgrade assistant tool did it mention any issues?

Note: upgrade version needs a legit previous windows install first and is not a full install route option.

Check that in Clock/Languages/Region that Language and input method and Region are the same, plus that your date and time are correct.
Uninstall any antivirus applications as they can cause upgrade issues at times.
