problems moving files in vista

I have seen that a few people have had some problems moving files between partions, drives, etc. I am having a similar problem, but it is only on one drive. I have a HP dv6746ca laptop with windows vista home premium on it. All of my downloads go into a downloads folder I have set up. I downloaded some shows and I am trying to move them around to sort them out (so we are talking large folders here). When I try to move them, nothing happens. I have tried moving by cut and paste and dragging and nothing seems to work. I wanted to move a folder with some wallpapers in it too and the same problem occured. I deleted the folder and tried to restore it in the recycle bin and it wouldn't restore. I am just wondering if it is a problem with files being in use and vista not telling me.

Just an update. I found out it was just folders that i can't move. i can move files into these folders but if i want to move the folder i can. i can't rename them either. i have read that the problem may be due to a ipod/vista bug that has a microsoft update which i got.
