I am running a compaq presario 2500 laptop with Win XP Home. Recently, I started experiencing problems opening up any Adobe document, whether it was online or from my pc. the program would open to the 'splash' screen, and not proceed any further. I have adobe acrobat pro v. 6.0, and I tried repairing it, reinstalling it, cleaning out my temporary file folder (like some other threads have suggested) and nothing has worked. I've tried to go to the adobe website for help, but many of their help files are in pdf format... When I go to windows task manager, the processes tab shows that acrobat.exe is running, and is taking up the majority (often 100%) of the CPE usage; the only way to get it to stop is by ending the process. Have let the computer run for 10 min trying to open acrobat without any luck. Please help...

OK, so downloading the latest Acrobat Reader only from the adobe website finally did the trick. It allowed me to open both programs.
