    Hello ppl,

I own a copy of CoD2 and lately I seem to experience a weird kind of lag.

When I'm in game usually I can just play like I used to. but sometimes I have a weird lag about it. I go on about walking, then suddenly my mouse and keyboard are not corresponding to what my screen shows me. I try to turn around because im shot in the back. Then it doesnt respond untill about a second or so later, which is too late to be alive.

could be multiple things but I guess its the communication between mouse+keyboard and the computer...

hope to get a response soon

In order to assist you, we need to know your system's specifications (CPU, Motherboard, Memory, Video Card, Hard Drives, Power Supply, Operating System, and Driver versions). If you don't know how to find this information, you can download a free program off of majorgeeks called Everest. This program will tell you what you need to know.

You can try updating your video card drivers to the latest version, and play with the game's graphics settings to find a nice compromise between looks and playability.

Ill get the system specs right now...

the specs I play the game with are minimum, so I can get a better performance...
will get those specs in a min now...

*Edit* I've made a report on the specs and probably some other innescesary things...
some parts are in dutch for some reason...
would you want those specs through e-mail or should I host it? because I dont really know what stuff to takem out of Everest...

Ok, you're going to want to start with updating your display drivers. The most recent drives from nVidia, build 93.71, can be found here.

Your system should be able to play the game just fine. So I'm guessing any stability problems are a result of outdated drivers. If the new drivers don't work, look to see if there is a patch for the game. Update it to the newest version and run it again.

7300gs proforms between a 6200 and 6600 so your not working with alot there.

try uninstalling the drivers for the card, run drivercleaner pro. clean the nvidia drivers then reboot and reinstall the most upto date nvidia drivers then try the game. if that dosent fix it see fi there are any updates for your chip set drivers.

the 7300gs isent really a gameing card if i were you i would start saveing up for somthing with a little more power. You can get a 7900GS on newegg for $155

I disagree, the 7300 should play it. Often overlooked are ALL drivers. Latest video drivers minus motherboard drivers can be problematic. Since this is a mouse issue, motherboard drivers may address a usb driver issue. Also, new sound drivers as well as mouse\keyborad would be good.

Luckily for you, it is an Nforce board, you can get most drivers in one install, you need to find out if your motherboard is a Nforce 1,2,3 or 4. If it is a 1 or 2, this will do it:
    http://www.majorgeeks.com/NVIDIA_nForce_Unified_Driver_Windows_2000XP_d4299.html

Otherwise the 3 and 4 have newer drivers, see if you can find out.

    where can I find out if its 1, 2, 3 or 4?
I've just installed the latest driver for my video card... lets see what happens...

Based off of information in the Everest report, I think you have a Asus A8N-VM motherboard with a 430 Chipset. So the drivers you need can be found here.

I'm not 100% certain as the report was kind of sketchy, but that's what I got out of it.

  12. m4d3v1l

    m4d3v1l Private E-2

I know for sure that the motherboard name is Asus V8N-VM (CSM) dont know the chipset though because it doesn't say in everest...

Is there any harm to be done by installing those drivers?
And do I need to delete anything before I install it?

*Edit* If someone has Teamspeak or something he could help me live, might speed up the process

    you have a Nforce 430

If that's definitely the model of the board, then you have 430 chipset and the drivers I linked to will work without a hitch.

Well, it went good for about 45 minutes of gaming, then all of a sudden (in a pretty crowded american server where I was playing on from Holland) I got that lag again... I still need to see if this also happens in war/scrim like situations because then its a problem.
It might have been that it was just "normal" ping lag there.

*Edit* I just did a scan using HijackThis, some of my clanm8s advised me to use this and to show the log to you guys...
    here follows the log:

Can you try out single player for an hour or so? If you have a problem there, then you know it's with your computer and not a server/ping problem.

I've completed the russian campaign with not more that two hitches... which is okay for me because that might be occasional lag when gaming... perhaps there is an explanation, but when those things happened everything stopped, instead of just my controls...

You do have the game updated to the latest version right? A patch might fix some stability problems. If you were able to get through the campaign with only a few hiccups it sounds like your online play just suffers from server lag, a bad ping, etc.

Do you have any other games that you play that are single player and multi player? How do those perform?

i had the same problem turns out it was my firewall ( zone alarm ) causing it.

I have some other games but I don't really play them any more... they performed fine on the settings I set them to, both in single as in multi player...

I might want to check if its my dads computer that is causing some of the lag...
I will eliminate that by removing his computer from the network...

And yes I do play with the latest patches of the game so no problems there...

I used to use zonealarm as well but recent versions kept killing my game installs (It kept causing them to lockup), I went to using a diffent firewall and now i don't have lockups while installing.

I also had problems with Zone Alarm when installing, and when starting an online game when it connected to a server. Once I set the permissions right in the program, it was fine. It just caused issues initially.

Well my dad doesn't use zone alarm, neither do I...
He uses the paid versions of AVG to secure his computer and I don't know if that causes problems in the network but it did deactivate his "partnership" in the local network...
