Hello all....I desperately need help, PLEASE!!!

I have to record audio from a cassette tape to computer hard drive for editing, then burning to CD. I have a Creative Sound Blaster MP3 EXTERNAL sound card. I have a stereo cord going from the "Line Out" jack on back of my stereo Cassette Deck to the "Line IN" jack on the SB card. Obviously, there is a "Y" adapter in the middle. I am NOT getting any audio at all!

I also tried running the patch cord from the headphone jack to "line in", and still get nothing. Can someone help me with this PLEASE?

If you don't know about SB, tell me what I can do to record from stereo system or "Line Out" on cassette deck to the laptop, please!!!!

    Much thanks in advance.
    Jay
