    Greetings!

Ive got a problem with my Bro´s PC (custom build)

Note: Im from Mexico and obviously im using software in spanish, so some options "might" be worded different than the american releases

Alright, apparently, my mom turned off the power surge protector (sp?) while the PC was on, and this morning the PC didnt wanted to start

basically, after the Intel startup image (where you can enter the Bios), i get the message of a problem starting Windows XP, and the different options (start normally, with the last optimal setting, the different Safe Mode´s. etc)

But when i choose any option, the Windows XP startup screen appears and starts loading, but after a few secs, it changes to a black screen and re-starts from the Intel screen

However, if i choose any of the Safe modes, it starts to load different files, and then another screen appears saying:

"Press Esc to cancel loading d347bus.sys...."

After a while, the same thing happens

Any idea what i could do?

Update: I made a startup disk using my other PC and i could enter the ms-dos mode, however i cannot enter any other drive, such as the hard disk or the CD/DVD roms

probably data corruption,do you have a windows disk you can repair the installation with, your bro should have one lying around if its a custom build. :)

Damn! I just did it, and other than the need to reinstall everything (it sucks yeah), at least i didnt lost any file it seems...

Still, ive got a message prior to load windows, it asks me to choose what OS to use (both being XP)

Is there a way to delete one of them and get a direct boot?

    Yes.
Go system properties > Advanced > Startup and recovery properties > untick the box 'show the list of operating systems for...'

That'll disable the list and choose the default one which will be the last installed one.
