Problems viewing DVDs on WinDVD player...

I recently had to do some work on my notebook... I ended up reinstalling some of the drivers and applications so it could work like it once did. Anyways, the machine is working faster now, so I was trying out my various applications to make sure that I didn't screw anything up. When I go to play a DVD, WinDVD loads fine, The DVD introduction loads up, but when the DVD gets to the title menu, the WinDVD window goes black. I can hear the music, but I don't see anything... no "Play", "Chapter Selection", "Special Features"... nothing... I know it's not the video itself because some of the DVDs autoplay and I can then see them. I thought that it just might be WinDVD, but when I try to play them in Windows Media Player, it does the same thing... will load up, show the Paramount symbol or what have you, show the DVD intro, and then... black...

Has this ever happened to anyone before?

Did something just get de-selected when I made changes?

Help me please... I am confused.

Just thought this needed a **bump**

(sometimes newbies don't realize there are other pages and wonder where their posts go...not saying that's happened with Doubting8Ball but...)

It would be wise to tell us your Operating Systems and other specs for your computer maybe.

Which version? If yours is an older one, it may require an update to handle some of the newer DVDs. Try the DVD in another DVD player (PC or home box) to make sure the DVD isn't the problem.

By uninstalling/reinstalling software you might have replaced your aspi drivers (or some other video drivers), which are now the wrong version or missing.
Try reinstalling the latest version of aspi drivers (read the included instructions).

    Thanks for your feedback!

Yeah, I had to format my hard drive and I am now re-installing my software... I had additional problems besides the DVD ones... hopefully this will solve all of them, including the ones with the Win DVD. I will let you know what happens, or I will be back if it didn't work. Thanks again.

    ;)

I have Windows XP Professional by the way... sorry I didn't specify.
