I replaced a GeForce 5700 LE AGP w/128Mb with a Sapphire X1650 AGP card 512Mb in my PC. My MoBo is an ASUS P4P800-VM w/ P4 CPU 3.2Ghz, 2GB RAM, running Windows XP Pro SP3.

I uninstalled my previous video drivers, shutdown the computer and installed the new AGP card, then powered it up again. All I see on my display screen is colored columns (approx 1.5" wide) of scrolling characters (I assume they are characters, I cannot really read them).

I've shutdown, removed the AGP card and plugged the display unit into my MoBo's video adapter and it works fine.

Are there known problems with this video adapter working with this ASUS MoBo? Is there something else I need to do before installing the video card?

Any suggestions or ideas would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

Probably a dead card. If you have multiple outputs try all of them. then RMA the card

Yes, that is what I figured. I tried the card in another computer with the same results.

    Thank you for your reply.
