I'm using AVG 7. I recently cleared my BIOS setup because of some, er, experiment failure. After i reset the system clock to normal, it keeps telling me that the virus data-base is out-of-date. Obviously, i try to update first. But it still occurs. Re-installing isn't helping either. I'm using Win Xp Pro.

    coinbox,

Starting to see this more and more with AVG, from what I can find out most user's wait a day or two and try again, works sometimes. Since a reinstall doesn't work for you and waiting for updates could be risky, consider another free anti-virus so that your not without any protection. Download a free version of Avast Home Edition 4.1.412 from here.

Launch Avast and it will update itself.
Now you can uninstall AVG completely and start again. The Avast program comes well recommended by members of this forum, and who knows you may prefer it to AVG. :)

Did you double-check to make sure your system clock is set right, your date , especially the year, could be off.

Hey thanks for the reply. My system clock is right, But i just don't know why the taskbar balloon pop-up comes out saying "database is out-of-date" right after i completed downloading the update file. Why the heck Grisoft doesn't have a forum (or it slipped my eye?)? Anyway, i'll try Avast. Thanks.

coinbox, I use Avast personally. Just a question about "re-installing" AVG. Did you download a fresh version of AVG, and install it, or did you re-install the one you have on your PC. Maybe your old AVG was somehow corrupted. A fresh download and install may solve your problem. If not, try Avast Bazza
