Problems with browser

I am running Windows XP sp2 and yesterday I wanted to install a hp laserjet 1018 printer in my pc, but I couldn`t because when I plug in the USB cable into the pc, the pc recognizes it but as an unknown device. I tried to uninstall the unknown usb controller and reinstall it but nothing happens. Always the same problem and the result: I can`t use the printer...
But today I encountered another change in using the pc. I couldn`t open Internet Explorer any more. The error : " 0x0000d86f The memory could not be read " comes out and a windows that asks me to either send or don`t send a report for the error
I installed the Firefox thinking that this was a problem with the Internet Explorer but I encounter the same problem. Firefox can`t start...
When I go to My Computer or My documents and write for example www.google.com or another address it opens correctly and I can use the internet although messenger opens and closes immediately.
I would appreciate any help... I really don`t know how to solve this problem and why it came out.
I ran the e-scan antivirus and it found some files infected with a brontoc but it deleted them so ... why this problems again???

 

I`m just too nervous because of this problem that`s why I`m not to concentrated...
Ok, I have uninstalled the unknown device under universal serial bus controllers, I shutted down the pc, waited for some seconds and than started it again with the printer opened, but it just recognized it again as an unknown device.... That`s all I have done. Than I just wanted to enter web to find some help and realised the browser couldn`t be opened
