Problems with burning music onto CD.

Hi, I've tried using several different burning software programs, but they all refuse to burn the music onto my CD (I've also used different CDs, nothing works). There's always an error that pops up before it can finish.

I'm using Nero Express now. Here is a detailed description of the error it gave me:

I'd look at Sony's site.. I could not find your exact model so I cannot provide links, but they have some patches and firmware updates (found one again not 100% sure of your model - http://www.sony.jp/products/Consumer/Peripheral/Datastorage/Support/common/fw175m21f.exe) from this link- http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=676 .. USE THESE LINKS AT YOU OWN RISK.

I'd flash the firmware or get an older Nero and see if it works.

 

Your problem is due to a "Power Calibration Error".

The only things that can cause this are poor media, insufficient power, or a defective burner.

The first thing to try is different brands of CDR's. When you find a compatible brand, stick with it.

If you have tried several brands, try cleaning the burner lens. You can buy special disc's which will do the job.

Also, make sure that you are using just one power connector to the burner and that it's not sharing power with another device. Burners use a lot of power and need their own power cable.

Try having just the burner on it's own Controller as the Master.

As a last resort if none of the above work, then update the firmware.


One thing I would do regardless is turn off XP's built in burning program.

XP uses an Adaptec DirectCD plug in for it's burning and it can conflict and cause Nero to start slowly.

Go to Start, Run, and type in services.msc and then O.K.

Scroll down to IMAPI CD-Burning COM Service and make sure it's set to manual if you use it infrequently or preferably disabled if not.
