Problems with Firefox...

As of yesterday when I use firefox, anytime I hit the "/" key or the "'" it pops up a find box at the bottom of the page. This has never happened before and it's rather annoying when you are trying to type out a post and it brings up this find box and. I am unable to complete posts. I am actually writing this out to you in MS Word. I have checked for malware/adware with spybot and ad-aware. I also did a virus check with Avast!, but none of those found anything other then some tracking cookies that I usually get from going to various sites. Nothing malicious is what i am getting at. Any ideas what's causing this and anyone way to resolve it?

I went and looked at these 2 seettings to see if they were enabled:allow text to be selected with the keyboard and begin finding when you begin typing. They weren't however, so lost as to what to try next. Oh, I even did a uninstall and reinstall, but that didn't work as well.

 

I'm using v1.5.0.1 and it also pops up the find box when you hit the "/" key. However, this is only happening when I am not typing into a text field. Are you having it open when you type a URL in the nav toolbar?

 

This is supposed to happen if you're not typing, that it sometimes occurs when you are typing is a known bug. It happens so erratically that the cause hasn't been pinned down, so no fix is likely soon.

I had this problem myself, for a while, then it just went away. Usually, all you have to do is switch focus to another tab and back, or restart the browser, or maybe reboot. If you'd like to read the bug report, it's here:
