Problems with internet explorer

i downloaded IE 8.0 off of file hippo and it was a beta version, when i installed it and it when through the process it did not work, i did system restore but since the new version deleted the old version it didnt come back, i redownloaded the most updated IE 7 version but it still doesnt work, am i missing some crucial step in this process any help would be greatly appreciated thanks

Did you go to Add/Remove Programs to uninstall IE8 before doing the system restore? If not, you may need to reinstall IE8, then uninstall it correctly. Then again, if you did the system restore without uninstalling it, it may be too late to try to back and fix the problem now....I know from experience that IE7 can be uninstalled and IE6 will automatically be "reinstalled" when IE7 is removed correctly. The same should be true for IE8.
