problems with JavaScript(?)

Hi I'm using Win 7 and IE 10. Looks like something has happened to my Internet settings recently and I am no longer able to load my Yahoo mail, play videos or even log in to Youtube (when I click on "sign in" nothing happens), download anything (tried downloading Google Chrome but, again, when I click on "download" nothing happens), etc. I guess this is JavaScript related? I reset my Internet settings to default and made sure that Active Scripting and Scripting of Java Applets are Enabled. This didn't help. I updated my Java 7 today (Update 17, whatever that means) but it didn't help either. I also ran a couple anti-spyware programs and an anti-virus software just in case but everything seems to be clean and I'm not having any other issues except the one described above. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance for your help.

 

I don't think this has anything to do with JavaScript (nor Java).

Try

1. starting Internet Explorer without add-ons
2. add sites you have problems with to Compatibility view
3. try the various Fixit procedures at http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/help/internet-explorer/slow-five-tips-to-boost-performance

Had a similar problems when I updated to "Windows Platform Update" KB2670838. I thought update to IE10 would fix the problems. It did not, so I uninstalled KB2670838, which also uninstalled IE10 automatically. Still have residual issues from upgrade KB2670838 even after uninstalling it. Based on what I have read so far on this issue, it looks like we have to wait for a fix from Microsoft.
