Problems with Kazaa

Hello,
I realize this might not be in the right area, but please bare with me.

I recently purchased the Kazaa version 2.62. My search and sharing buttons are blocked out. The error message I'm getting is "Kazaa is not connected to the internet". When I looked under the help section, I was told to make sure I am connected to the internet and try reconnecting. I am running DSL (email and browsers are working fine). The taskbar is still showing "connecting". When I checked in the help section, it said something about firewall settings. I'm not running a firewall. My O/S is Windows XP Home. Can anyone help with this?

How are you connected to the net? Is it via moden on your machine, or via a router? If so you may have to set up port forwarding.
