Problems with MS AntiSpyware

I cannot get my MS Antispyware to load up so I can update or do a scan. I check the error log and it comes up with this:

So i try to run regsvr32 comdlg32.ocx but I get an error DllRegisterServer in COMDLG32.OCX failed. Return code was 0x8003801c.

I d/l a new comdlg32.ocx file and try to register it but I get the same error. I would be thankful if somebody can help me out.

 

I still haven't fixed my problem yet but what does the COMDLG.OCX do?

replace comdlg32.ocx with a good copy

I can unregister it but i still get error when i register it. I got a new file and deleted the old one and still get the same error. Do you know if this file has a dependencies or what part of OS uses this file? Do you know if i disabled a service would this file stop working?

 

Look in services and make sure the gcasServ is started.

 

I do not see gcasServ in my services. How would i get that the service?

 

Start -> Run
cmd
net start gcasServ
exit

 

when i do that command it says the service is invalid.

 

Have you tried uninstalling MS Antispyware, then re-installing it?

What OS is this, and SP level.....

 

i try to uninstall and reinstalling twice already. i dont know what else i can do.

 

i have winxp sp2
