problems with my display page

I recently had a virus which I successfully got rid of using Bullguard. However it has left problems with my opening display page (the screen with start in the bottom left and icons). It sometimes works and then reloads itself continuously or just does not work at all. When it reloads it give about 10 seconds between each reload, and then closes anything which has been opened using start. This means that I do not have enough time to use anything such as the control panel.
I have run explorer from windows task manager, and although this get the taskbar and icons back it quickly starts to load and then reload itself before going blank leaving just my background.
Any help to rectify this problem would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

your virus might not be gone.

i would advise you to go through the steps HERE

then start a NEW thread HERE in the malware forum and attach the logs to make sure.

cheers. i ran combofix and that seems to have fixed the problem. Is there any point in running the other programs such as SpyBot, AVG Anti-Spyware or
MGtools. Once again thanks for your help.

 

yes i would advise you to go through all the steps then attach the logs.

that way the malware experts will be able to check if your system is totaly clean..
