About 4 days ago i had to do a system recovery.
That all went fine, untill AntiVir Personal Edition found out i had about 10 trojans.
I have deleted them but there are still problems.
My PC is acting soo slow and the CPU USAGE is at 100% all the time, even
with me just writing this message.
There allot of unknow(to my knowledge) tasks and i dont believe that they are needed. When i tried installing service pack 2 the files were getting saved(extraced)to my Slave drive and then when they are all saved the installment of SP 2 freezez.
    Is this supposed to happen?
Are the files supposed to be saved to my slave drive?
    WHAT IS GOING ON!?!?!
I am really hating my PC at this moment.
Maybe a FREE trojan removal tool will help get rid of my sorrow!
    P4 2.7GHZ
    1GB RAM
    SP1(Unable to install SP2)
    HELP ME PLEASE!

trojans like to hide in your system recovery archives, which could be why they 'appeared' after you accessed them.

i'm not sure how well AntiVir removes viruses, but here are the steps i would personally take:

    1) uninstall all antivirus programs. Install Avast! 4.5 Free Home Edition
    2) run Ad-Aware with an up to date reference file
    3) run Spybot Search & Destroy with up to date reference files (also run the Immunize feature)
    4) restart and allow Avast to perform a boot time scan

having said that, I would recommend installing SP2 on a CLEAN reformat, to avoid possible issues since it is an entire service pack.

Sorry to hear your troubles BM

    A few things to run...........

    Stinger

A2 ( A Squared ) you can run this alongside your normal AV profgram as its a complimentry scanner that picks up items that most AVs miss.

its free but needs a registration sigh-up ( they do not spam you at all, I have used this soft for the best part of the year and all you get is a few newsletters alerting you to new updates )

also run one of the online scanners as well

    Trends ~ Housecall

    Panda ~ Scan

also as you are running XP turn off system restore as Virii will and can get stuck in there and will be restored on reboot.

    Thanks for all those apps.
Now please tell me if the files from the SP2 disc are supposed to be extracted to my slave dive...

how much free space is on your Windows boot drive?

if you have enough, you can unplug the slave drive before trying an upgrade. But again i suggest backing up your files and completely reformatting windows prior to an sp2 installation for best results
