Problems with network

im trying to connect 2 computers but they dont find each other.
impatus-pc and media-pc
both computer is connected to a switch and are connected to the internet.
i have tried \\"computername" and \\"ipadress" from both. doesent work.
i also tried to ping from "impatus-pc to media-pc and all packets where sendt, but when i tried the other way all packets where lost.
i only have windows firewall on both computers and networkdiscovery on.
impatus-pc is win 7 x64 and media-pc is xp mediacenter edition
any idea what the problem can be?:confused

Thats only in the malware section collins.

Mitt, one thing id try is turning off your firewalls when testing this kind of thing. One less area that can cause problems.

i have tried that.
it seems like everything is just blocked out from my computer somehow.
i have been reading around and when it comes to network i just get seriously confused xD
all this NAT, gateway and so on i just cant wrap my head around

im usualy good at googling and finding solutions but this i have no idea how to fix

 

Got this sorted out. i needed a router couse my modem wouldn't give out proper ip adresses or something like that.
