Problems with new PSU....

My previous PSU just got fried. and i got a new 450 watt. My system monitor is alerting me of some voltage stuff that i don't know. Happens very often during games. My specs are:

AMD athlon XP 2000+
512mb 333 ram
GeForce 4 Ti 4200
MSI kt4Av

The voltage bounces tetween 2.99 and 3.01. Should i worry about it?

BTW, are there Intel and AMD specific PSUs? Thanks.

 

That is a little low. It should be 3.3 or very close to it. 3 volts is too in my opinion. You should return the PSU, and get another.

 

But will i really get any kind of problems if the voltage is too low?

 

I wouldnt bother looking at the voltages if I were you,I have never had a psu within atx spec,I have had Sandra and speedfan running at the same time and they both show different results,that are out of spec,try it yourself.

Unless you have instability there wont be anything wrong with it.

 

I was just afraid the PSU might get fried again(burning up the whole pc with it).

 

Try running sandra and speedfan at the same time and check the voltages on both apps,both are availabe in the download section,open the speedfan icon once installed and the voltages are displayed instantly,In sandra open the enviroment monitor wizard.Heres my temps next to each other,as you can see the 12v is way out on both apps and the 5v is weak and this system has been overclocked in the past with this psu and is still completely stable and has been for the last year or two.
