Problems with Norton leftovers....

On my dad's computer he has removed the Norton software off of it. After doing so he gets the following error on bootup:

    Norton Protection: ATTENTION!
    Access denied: Drive C:

Once he hits the ok button he is able to do everything just fine. It's more of an annoyance than anything else and it is related to his Norton Protected Recycling Bin but I wish to remove it if possible. I'm certain that it is in the registry someplace but don't wish to muck around with it too much. The help file on Symantec is little help as it would require me to re-install the Norton software but that is not an option as he does not have the install disks. The tabs that the usual work-around refers to are not present. Thanks for any help!

    Yours,
    Jack
