For the last 2 weeks I have been trying to update my Panda Platinum 7 AV and it keeps giving me the same error. I have e-mailed Panda 3 times and have yet to get a reply back. The message is as follows:

    "Error Detected

Could not update the antivirus correctly

Cause of error: Error in the Web server (CGI)

Error in the Web server. Please try again later."

Well I have been trying for 2 weeks and still nothing. Any ideas?

Re-entred it, but still get the same error... anything else? I don't leave it on update automatically since I play online games and it hampers that when they update it, plus I am on a slow enough dial-up connection as it is.

I went to the link and according to their directions for finding out what version you have installed mine is version 7.05.04 and they say the new version is 3.01.01. I am all confused now. Plus the link you provided doesn't describe the error I am getting. I don't get an error number or anything that says that it has already been updated. It says that it can not be updated correctly.

has anyone else sent Panda a e-mail and actually had a response? This isn't very good customer service as far as I am concerned. We were thinking about referring friends and family to Panda, but we are thinking better of it now.

    Anything else that may help?

Good luck in trying to get any help from them. I wrote to them about 13 times on a problem I had with them. I never got a response back. I wonder sometimes since this company is from Spain if I could have better luck accessing the spanish site. I will have to try that someday.

anyways here is what I found about your problem so far

CGI Program Errors User QTMHHTP1 needs *use authority to configuration file

QTMHHTP1 did a search on this and all seems to point towards

QTMHHTTP and QTMHHTP1 must have authority to the programs and databases
CGI is a common gateway interface: is a standard supported by most webservers that defines how information is exchanged between a web server and a cgi program

What I would do is delete panda restart the computer run a registry cleaner then install panda again.

The cons about my plan. You will have to download all virrus updates again. :(

I would do this since geting any help from panda will probably just make you older and angrier at them. Panda is a good program and the updates are pretty darn good. but their support needs to definately improve.

It was during the free blitz actually. I am going to try and reinstall it and see what happens. I used a download manager called Fresh Download so I am hoping that I can actually find the download somewhere in my computer. I have such a slow connection speed via dial-up ( 19,200 bps shown, actual speed is 12,000 bps) that I dread having to redownload anything over 5 mbs let alone 24 or so.

I just re-installed the program to fix this and it works fine now :)

I dropped Platinum 7 like a bad habit.

It updated fine, but crashed Outlook continously on my wife's machine.

I have Titanium 2k4 on my machine and hers now.

    Life is gooooood :)

I've had just one crazy stop error (Goldfish had it too), but thats it.

I'm with ya AbbySue. I too got the Panda Platinum 7 durning the ole Panda Rush of '04. I haven't had a problem yet with the updating (knocking on wood as I type), and, which is even better, it scans my Thunderbird email client. When I first had Panda on my computer it wouldn't scan Thunderbird (only Microsoft proggys), so I'd have to delete the emails and then run a manual virus scan to get rid of the viruses. But, about a month or so back, Panda started picking up those virus-laden emails during download (like Avast! used to do). So far it's been a really nice program.

However, I will echo everyone else's sentiments about Panda's less-than-stellar customer service. I've written a couple of times and never received a response. I'd be curious to know, though, if paying Panda customers get better support or not.

    Panda's idea of help

Here is what Panda had to say (after about 10 calls, 20 emails, and 30 min on hold)
    What a crock!

I have attached the un-install instructions they sent, too.

They were also kind enough to give me a temp user/pw, which worked after doing step one above. But when that expires, it looks like SOL again.

    Re: Panda's idea of help

Not that much of a crock... worked didnt it? I seem to remember it being an issue with the file that holds user data... or somthing... so re-installing or re-entering information should "refresh" it... if thats how it works... who knows!!

All i know is im going to try another AV as soon as this expires...
