Problems with pc

Problems never end. I got a problem with my hp laserjet 1018 printer. When I try to install it in my NEC Powermate computer when it asks to plug the printer the pc recognizes a new hardware, but it shows it as an unknown device and doesn`t finish installing. Then I find the printer in Printers but when I try to print a test page it doesn`t print.
I`ve gone to Device manager and it shows a usb hub controller with an exlamation mark inside a yellow circle. I try to update it with Windows updates but it doesn`t. A pop up window comes out that says: A function driver is not properly installed..... D I have tried to install the driver of the printer in different ways but nothing happens. Always the same problem. I installed the printer in another hp computer and it was installed successfully while in another Nec computer it was the same problem. Can anyone help me pls ???
